And then Sabata showed up.

And the collective outlook for the future of humanity declined even more.

But in all seriousness, here I am.  I'm pretty easy to get along with, and talk to.  I'm currently going to college for a major in Fire Science/EMS and I'm probably going to go to a university after I'm finished to major in German.  I'm able to talk about basically anything and I have a pretty open mind to new ideas and opinions.  I'm not religious myself, but if anyone wants to have an open religious discussion, I'll listen as long as it doesn't devolve into a plain argument.

Following that last point, I strongly dislike melodrama.  Sure, we all get sad/upset over things, some of them reasonable, some not.  Seeking compassion from other people is just fine as long as it's not over every small thing and all the time.  Constantly causing stupid drama and pointless arguments are a good way to get me to stop paying attention.

And now comes the part where I bore everyone with all the other details about myself.  I'm into music (as is most of everybody on this planet), though my tastes are pretty strange.  I love heavy metal of all kinds, favorite bands being Amon Amarth, Korpiklaani, Rammstein, and Fear Factory for example.  I like softer rock too, though I don't listen to that as much.  Top bands for that category would be old Green Day and The Doors.  I'm not into rap/hip-hop or any of the sort, or techno/electronica.  I don't particularly care for country, but I make an exception for Johnny Cash.

I like reading too, my favorite authors of all time being Stephen King, Ian Fleming, and Michael Crichton.  I'm open to suggestions that are horror, non-Star Wars/Star Trek sci-fi, and fantasy.  Always looking for more books to read.

And then video games.  I've got a Whee and a PS2, so I'm probably not going to know of many current games.  I'm a die-hard fan of the Metroid series, having played all of the games in it.

Well that's basically everything you need to know about me.

So...yeah.
"Of course you don't know.  You don't know because only I know.  If you knew and I didn't know, then you'd be teaching me instead of me teaching you.  And a student who teaches teachers is presumptuous and rude.  Do I make myself clear?"

Nellie O.

He's also my mate!  Welcome to FW, matey-mate.  <3
Where do you think all these appalling wars and quarrels come from?  Do you think they just happen?  Think again.  They come about because you want your own way, and fight for it deep within yourselves.

Hi, Sabata.

A suggestion of literature? House of Leaves. It's the most amazing thing I've ever read, by far. It's often called a horror story. It's about... Well, that's tricky. It's about a young, drug-addicted tattoo artist, Johnny, who's moved into the apartment of the recently-deceased Zampanò, a blind man. Zampanò was writing an academic stydy of The Navidson Record (it's a real documentary, actually). The documentary was made by a photojournalist who discovered that the house he recently moved his family into has a number of strange, unsettling features, such as being a fraction of an inch larger on the inside than it is on the outside. More notably, there a door in the living room which, being on the outer wall of the house, should lead outside, but doesn't. Instead, it opens upon a pitch-black hallway, filled with freezing air, which leads to what seems to be an infinite, lightless, non-permanent labyrinth. Johnny, compelled to compile Zampanò's research and notes into a book, slowly goes insane.
And that's just scratching the surface.

As far as games: Shadow of the Colossus, for PS2. It's surprising that the most impressive, fun, awe-inspiring game ever made is so obscure. You play as Wander, a young man who brings the body of a beautiful girl a shrine in the middle of forbidden lands, and makes a deal with Dormin, an ancient god, to resurrect her. Dormin instructs Wander to destroy sixteen colossi so that it may be done. And that's the game. Sixteen of the larges boss battles in gaming history, each unique, but not a single regular enemy to fight. Each boss may take an hour or more to defeat, as you must figure out how to approach it, then how to climb it (yes, they're so big that you have to climb up their bodies to reach their weak points), and, finally, destroy them. You have nothing to help you but the sacred sword, a bow, and a loyal warhorse named Agro. Take a look at this in-game screenshot. Wander is the light little speck on the bottom-left, and the colossus is nearly half a kilometer away. You must kill that. Here's another colossus.
It's a truly stunning game: A work of art, an awesome story, and spectacularly fun, all in one.

And in an equally-intelligent follow-up to Lei's post; hi.
