Pre-apocaliptic RP?

Alright we've heard of the post apocalyptic  role plays. But what about one that begins shortly before the bomb or what ever cataclysmic even happens?

Of course it starts off as the normal role play would. Normal people, doing normal things. Possibly a warning or two about something from TV. Or possibly without warning what so ever!

Details on the city that these people would be located, the event that causes the decimation, and other important details are under construction for the idea. Throw me some suggestions if ya got em.

It's an interesting twist on the old idea, especially if there's at least one person who's got fire arms or has access. Possibly even someone connected to why the "bomb drops" assuming it I'd a bomb. I'd love to be involved and I'll be back later on with more ideas to be a helpful as possible XD

Thanks for the feedback mikkaddo. And I would like to put emphasis on the fact that it doesn't have to be a bomb or weapon of some sort. Natural disasters, hell even a meteor hitting earth and the populous not knowing it was coming because the people up top didn't want riots or such could be a scenario. Again, more ideas. But a weapon being used or tested on a city that could suddenly be isolated from everywhere else because of either A. bombs were dropped elsewhere too/the weapon was tested elsewhere. Or B. they don't understand the nature of the weapon enough to send in people. (Some sort of virus possibly?)
