Voltron: A New Era

Even when the universe was old and dying, this galaxy was young.  Because of this many of the creatures in our galaxy had no idea just how lucky and rich we truly were.  Even fewer of us understood that this would make our universe a battle ground like none other in the universe. 

It was late in the 22nd century when the earth discovered we were not the only planet able to sustain and evolve life.  In fact our galaxy was full of unknown different species and sentient beings scattered across the hundreds of stars and planets.  And once suitable space travel was perfected and with the help of several key planets, a galaxy alliance was formed.  In truth it was mostly to try and prevent a war that none of the planets was ready for.  But that mattered little, for an evil far more powerful and dangerous came from beyond the edges of our galaxy, from the far reaches of the universe.

An ancient and powerful race, known as the drule, appeared along the outer edges of our galaxy.  Their technology was comparable to the combined union of planets, but the strange source of their power was like nothing we had ever seen.  It was a type of dark magic that nothing could stand against.  And so the outer edges of the galaxy fell, and the drule set up a king, Zarkon, to finish the war they began in this galaxy. 

My name is Alexis Zander.  I served under the galaxy alliance military division after the initial attack.  My mission was classified by the sky marshall himself.  A team and myself was sent out to the far reaches of the galaxy, to the drule controlled Azure Sector, to scout the enemy forces and gather necessary intel.

It was a long shot mission.  And one doomed to failure as my ship, crew, and myself were taken captive by the drule.  Upon the renamed planet of Doom, we were treated as slaves.

Forced to fight in the arena for King Zarkon and put up against the manacial king's pet 'robeasts' few of us survived.  While here though I was able to learn a few things about the drule, and Zarkon.  They were a race, created in the image of their dark goddess, Nervia.  Nervia was one of the first born in the universe and could harvest the very essence of the dark energy for her magic and spells.  Driven to corruption from that power she sought domination of the entire universe and created the drule in her image to do so. 

As a sign of the pact between the drule and the dark goddess, her priestess, the witch Haggar serves at the right hand of the king.   

But there are whispers of something more.  Something that the drule, and the witch Haggar fear.  It is said that some of those that escaped the original take over of the drules home galaxy fled to this sector of space.  A race known as the Arusians, which are both technologically advanced and hold a deeper understanding of the mystical energies of the universe. 

I've even heard rumors that the drule encountered them when they first came to this galaxy, before ever making it to the inner sectors.  But they say the entire planet has just disappeared.

I am writing this message, in hopes that one of my crew might make it out.  It seems I have been noticed by Zarkon and Haggar and will be taken to the labs...
