Just wondering if anyone might be up for a fantasy rpg and if so, what kind of setting they might like to see or character they might use.  Up for suggestions.

There is no Light without Darkness, No Darkness cast without the light.  One must have the other to keep the balance or all becomes for naught...

Welllll.... First of all, I'm not sure how many responses you're going to get without first listing the kinds of things you're interested in.  :P  Also, I think we need a thread kind of like this where we list the kinds of RPs we're up for, so that we can be more easily recruited and whatnot.... but for now, here's my fantasy section of such a database:

Fantasy

• Ancient
    • Class dependent upon plot given
    • Medieval
      • Thief/Rogue**
      • Bard
      • Cleric
      • Sorceress
      • Nobility
      • Modern
        • Scout
        • Agent
        • Soldier
        • Civilian
        • Mage**
        • Swordsman
        • Postmodern
          • Mage
          • Swordsman
          • Civilian

              • Civilian
              **Preferred class

              So yeah.  Pick and choose.
Where do you think all these appalling wars and quarrels come from?  Do you think they just happen?  Think again.  They come about because you want your own way, and fight for it deep within yourselves.

Good point.  Probably more Medieval than anything, with the usual run of the mill D&D setting I guess.  Just...not too D&D ish.  *Shrugs*  Ummm...Would you want just a generic, people meet and adventure kind of RP, or have it so the players already know each other?  A dark kind of medieval world where a war between light and darkness was lost, the darkness won and people have to rebuild as much as they possibly can while survivors who take up adventuring have to deal with the new horrors spawned forth by the darkness and their own hearts?
              Actually...that doesn't sound half bad...

Well...more input would be needed.  As for classes, in reality, there wouldn't be any classes...More or less, whatever it is that your character aspires to be: A monk from oriental lands that dabbles in alchemy (internal or external to their own body), a scribe who is just as efficient with a sword as he/she is with a pen who searches ruins for hidden lore, or a rogue who has through ritual or accident gained a supernatural link with shadows, using them to travel as much as cause confusion while striking lethal blows from the shroud of night.

Hmmm, sounds intriguing.  My character was developed primarily for this sort of thing, so if you figure it all out I'm all for it.

I like the sounds of this, depending on completely where it goes you can count me in

This thread is relevant to my interests.

              I'm in.
"Of course you don't know.  You don't know because only I know.  If you knew and I didn't know, then you'd be teaching me instead of me teaching you.  And a student who teaches teachers is presumptuous and rude.  Do I make myself clear?"

              Shadows of Haven

Three centuries ago, the final battle foretold by the Ancients Prophecies occurred, casting a shadow over the entire world of Haven and its peoples.  The leaders of light and darkness met on the plains of Herron with their armies, the battle to determine the future of all who would dwell on or within the plane resting on the conflict.

Each army had its champion, each their Pariah who would be instrumental in bringing about change...Yet what the leaders of the Light didn't realize until it was too late, was their champion had been one of Darkness all along, and its corruption had spread to all others who had come into contact with it.  The prophecies concerning their noble champion had been falsified ages ago by  the Darkness, and within days, all was led to ruin.

The sun that had once been so bright and welcoming turned to a black disk with only a faint silvery ring of light to hint at the glory it had once been to the world.  Plants and animals changed, adapting to the twilight, others becoming twisted with the corruption that spread like a infectious disease.  Druids, healers, and even those who were devoted to various aspects and divinities of the Light couldn't stem the flow of the taint as it spread, nor did their gifts to heal those afflicted by it work as they had in the past.

Faith was lost in the light, and as the lands fell next to the armies of the unnamed evil that continued to sweep from the battleground where the worlds Fate had been decided fewer were born without being affected in some way.  The main races who had held sway for so long; Humans, Dwarfs, Elves, and the Half breeds fell into ruin, with only the strongest surviving the change.

Cities that had once been thriving placed for trade of both magick and artifice turned into fortified bastions, each with little tolerance for even the slightest crimes committed within the walls.  Few who travel the roads anymore travel alone, and without protection or the knowledge of how to defend one's self from the dangers that lurk in the perpetual twilight.

Some seek wealth and fortune in the ruins of once great kingdoms; others sell what lore and artifacts they have collected, or their services as escorts throughout the land.  A rare few seek some knowledge of how the Darkness may be driven from the land, and balance restored to the world.  A dream...one that many hearts share...but only a brave and perhaps mad few are willing to pursue...

I am suddenly enthralled and interested.
(14:25:43) Zerrif: My sister just made me deep throat a granola bar.
              (14:25:43) Zerrif: .-.
              (14:25:53) Tsunama: Faggot.
              (14:25:58) Bellatrix:  Sexy zerr o.0
              (14:25:58) Sabata_McCloud: You enjoyed it.
(14:26:00) Dissius: Should have been easy for you Zerr.

OK...Everyone is going to have their character(s) arrive or already be in the Port City of Isharam; a city known not only for its exotic goods and slave trade, but the fierce spring and winter storms that roll in off the sea.  It's currently late spring with the last of the storms threatening the city without actually encroaching upon it aside from rain that has lasted for the last three days.

I would appreciate if the people interested in the thread post their character concepts here in this one so they and others in the thread to read them when needed.

So the basic things such as appearance, Race (Half Breed = Anthromorths/furries or mixes of the other basic races), Profession (Could also be considered your class if you wish), any gear that others in the world might notice you carrying (weapons, armor, artifacts, emblems, etc.), any magickal/supernatural talents/abilities, and a brief history that will hopefully indicate why your character is traveling the world and possible goals he/she/it may have.

I look forward to RPing and seeing the story develop with everyone that joins.

              Name: Damascene Seneschal
Age: ?? (Looks to be about late twenties, early thirties)
              Race: Elf
              Profession / Class: Sage/Scholar
Equipment: A very thick book that is only half filled out, a pair of glasses that never seem to scratch or break, some small magical catalysts like gems and runestones.
Magical Abilities: Damascene is a student of the elemental arts-- although he has no real specification, and thus no real prowess with a certain element. He's adaptable, but not proficient.
Brief History: Ever since the encroaching darkness began to spread, Damascene suddenly found himself enthralled, and drawn to it-- though not of power, but simply knowledge. Being a scholar, he made it his life's goal to constantly study how things went and the actual effects of the darkness upon the land, and all living things.

Damascene's approved, but I hope you'll be providing a more in depth character appearance description in the thread, Zurr.  Still, sounds interesting.

              Name:  Antony Faramond
              Age:  24
              Race:  Human
              Profession/Class:  Pilgrim
Equipment:  A hand-and-a-half sword along with a large shield on his back, and a shortsword on his left hip.  Both swords have s small dagger (the size of letter-openers) concealed in the pommels whose blades are coated with a strong poison.  He wears a royal blue band of cloth around his forehead, and a small golden pendant underneath his shirt.
Brief History:  He traveled from his homeland after hearing of the immense power and danger in the region.  Deciding that he could use a good adventure, he packed up his things and headed out.

Obviously more will be revealed about him as the RP progresses.  Not as much fun if all of the details are given in the character sheet.

              Name: Dyrik Mustelik
              Age: 16
              Race: Halfling (stoat)
              Profession/class: Rogue
Equipment: Eight hidden daggers (you can find out where in game. ;D), light leather armour and cloth like shoes.  At his waist he holds a small water skin that looks a tad too small to effectively hold water, even for a halfling.
Brief History: At first when the darkness fell Dyrik loved it, but as laws grew stricter and it became harder for him to find people alone he grew frustrated and angry.  He'd narrowly escaped prison far too many times and was getting tired of living on the run...but life was too much fun to abide by the law.  He finally left his town when he couldn't turn a corner without having to run from guards determined to find a way to end this darkness.
