As it proved to be both an entertaining feature on the site, and a somewhat unique draw to users, I've decided to give the Ventrilo chat another round. I've purchased a 25-slot chat. If we need more slots, I'll upgrade it.
I'll be posting for Vent moderator applications soon. Current FW staff will be automatically given moderator privileges on the Ventrilo chat.
I'll admit, when you log into Ventrilo you'll be severely underwhelmed by my creativity in naming the channels, however Typefrag's interface was very disagreeable with my current connection, and I just wanted to get the basics set up.
Regardless, the information for accessing the Vent chat is as follows:
Host: calcium.typefrag.com
Port: 6712
Password: fwithin
If you're unfamiliar with Ventrilo, it's a VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) like Skype, except not as crap and doesn't charge you money. All you need is the free program, available here (http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php). I'm sure with a little Googling, or looking on Vent's site, you can find out how to set it up. I had a guide back in the day, but lost to the sands of time and grit of dead computers.
If you're wondering about the Music channels, you're able to broadcast music from iTunes (Ugh), Winamp or Windows Media Player through Vent. People liked to chill out and listen to other peoples' music in the past, so I figured I'd give people an outlet.
As a general courtesy, to myself, the site and the users, and in the name of security, I'd ask that if you're going to invite someone just for the Vent, have them register here first. It would save myself and the other staff a big headache on who is who.
Oh, and I've also put a modification in place that prevents guests from reading topics. Apologies to guests who like to lurk without registering (who can't see this unless they sign up), but it's in the interest of security for FW's users.

Eh... I can't say I'll see myself using this. Text chat is nerve-wracking enough, but making me use my voice? It just serves to hinder me, and to cloud communication.

Good thing it's not compulsory then.
On another note, I'll put in a server status block into Tinyportal's side bar later on when I can get a Javascript applet working properly. This will let people know who's online at the time, basically.

Regarding the Ventrilo, this is an adult site. As such, you are allowed to talk about materials suitable for adults. However, with that being said, if someone asks you politely to tone it down a little, or cease talking about something that is making them uncomfortable, I request that you either do so, or take it to another room. Everyone has the same right to be there, and the right to be comfortable with those around them.
It's courtesy, simple as that. If someone refuses to stop talking about a particular topic you're uncomfortable with, or does it simply to spite you, let myself or one of the mods know.
