What I mean when I say this is any music you can link us to that you would never hear on a radio or has a major record label. Something you're willing to bet that no one has ever heard of before.
I really like unusual music so I figured a good way to start a collection would be to have a thread like this. Please include a vague genre is you can just so people can weed out the stuff that they don't want to hear, but others might.
My first recommendation is Mushroom Song - Tricky Pixie (http://music.trickypixie.com/track/mushroom-song?autoplay=true). They're a folk(ish) band from some country or another. I thought they were Finnish at one point but I forget. They say their genre is; "Gypsy Celtic Folk Rock for Naughty Punk Faeries"
Tom Waits I`ll be gone (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9mTewstGlU#)
Tom Waits - I'll Be Gone.
Genre? Whimsical, I suppose.
I'll start out with these two.
Minusbaby - Left (album, .zip) (http://www.8bitpeoples.com/discography/zip/8BP101)
Genre: Chiptune
I'm particularly fond of this album, for some reason. It has extremely interesting sounds, and I love its progression. I suppose it could be called very "rich" or "thick", perhaps.
Autechre - Grantz Graf (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfwD05XA2YQ#)
Genre: Techno
This is actual techno, that is, not the general electronic music that most people either call "techno" or "electronica" (the latter isn't even a real genre, it's just a word Madonna made up). Anyway, this music video, besides being very interesting, has absolutely /stunning/ synchronization with the music. Watch it and you'll see what I mean.
This one is a bit unusual...
Russian Circles - Carpe (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzYW1pY3hFA#)
It's Post Rock methinks, a sort of desolate improvisational rock with no lyrics, designed to give the impression of a post apocalyptic scenario. The song constantly changes throughout, with no real repetition. Claims to be a genre of it's own, so it seems fitting.
And this one I've noticed some to find cruel and unusual, but that tends to be the case with these kinds of music:
Schnuffel - Ich Hab Dich Lieb (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCSxSKwdz_0#)
Could call it "Cute" trance or Valentine, I dunno. It's a whimsical cute love song of sorts, sung by an adorable bunny. I picked the German version because I don't really want to know what the little guy is actually saying. It's probably sickeningly sweet and will ruin the otherwise decent trance beat behind it.
I like what everyone posted (except the bunny song, its a bit too...not my style). My boyfriend is busy dowloading Tom Walts and I really enjoyed Russian Circles enough to download it. The chiptunes was a bit too rugged for me to sit and listen to, the song would snap me out of whatever I was doing every time it would come on.
Pala Tute by Gogol Bordello (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyTwqEOJBfo#ws)
Apparently this is a Ukrainian wedding song, but I'm not too sure about that. XD Either way, its fucking catchy as all hell, my boyfriend and I get it stuck in our heads all the time. Its one of those "so terrible I kinda like it" tunes.
As for genre...I have no idea, heavy folk?
http://www.playlist.com/playlist/20142648331 (http://www.playlist.com/playlist/20142648331)
Most of the songs are from unknown bands except for two.
Not sure on some of the genres.. upbeat techno?
Says the playlist doesn't exist unfortunately.
Kings of Metal - Van Canto
genre: acapella metal
Van Canto - Kings of Metal (Official) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiESgYr35gA#ws)
That was surprisingly hilarious but I love it. XD Have you ever listened to Manowar? (The guys who did the original to that song? They're a band so fail they're hilarious.)
KKontroll På Kontinentet by Kaizer's Orchestra (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNozTHSQH_o#)
I think these guys can only be classified as circus metal? XD
wait, who is fail? the original band? Or the band I posted? Cause I love the band that I posted... I listen to them all the time.
Manowar are fail (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyOy5YnE8G4#ws) I still like them, they're just hilarious.
I love this song... found it... without actually looking for it ^^ Its kind of cute and unusual how they use photography. ^^
Her Morning Elegance / Oren Lavie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_HXUhShhmY#)
Edit: Just a warning. It does have strobe/flashy effects in the middle-ish of the song. >.>
Oh! I love that song/video. I saw someone post that elsewhere only a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it.
Tomboy by Panda Bear (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jtniF1le38#)
I have no idea what genre you could consider this, conceptual alternative?
I don't know that I would call Shonen Knife "cruel and unusual," but they're definitely off the beaten path. They're super cute though (it's just three girls) and so yeah. Here they are. <3
Shonen Knife - My Magic Glasses (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lo5crNiYGxs#)
Shonen Knife: Hamigaki (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkfvQsVFP_4#)
"Hamigaki" is probably the weirder of the two, but "My Magic Glasses" is just my favorite song ever.

須藤元気(Genki Sudo) 「WORLD ORDER」の"MIND SHIFT"フルver.PV (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ua64HbsBUo#ws)
... I like it a lot.
That was surprisingly good and the choreography was incredible.
Tango by Crazy Loop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzD1OjedMP8#ws)
I don't know what it is about this song but I love it, definitely up there in my "favourite song" category. I like the rest of their stuff but its so very different from this song that I don't know where it came from. My campers over the summer loved this particular one as well.
As for genre...pop-y rockish? The CD calls it dance, but I don't believe it for this song.

I generally hate Asia
Old Blind Dogs - To The Beggin' I Will Go (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5biSoW1926I#)
Glad to hear some good old Gaelic folk music, Tsu. ^^
Strangelove Addiction by Supreme Beings of Leisure (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVSk__Dw9Vc#)
Acid Jazz <3
CellDweller - The Last Firstborn. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hW8OZs6Edb0#ws)
This was a fun one I recently discovered. It's hybrid Trance/Metal. For example, at 1:00 in it seamlessly transfers from what sounds like a screaming Metal part straight to a pulsed Trance chorus with a solo female opera of sorts at 1:13 which is just beautiful.
And that games soundtrack has a few others like it you might wanna check out. <3
CellDweller isn't too bad...not a huge fan, myself. But that could be due to the fact that I just generally hate my friend's taste in anything and Celldweller is one of her favourite bands. If you like them try Spineshank-Synthetic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXRiEeVLFM8#)
Or
Adema-Giving In (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTOKnYNI3tU#ws)
Doesn't have the techno stuff, but I find the style to be relatively similar.
Stoat, I don't see what's so unusual about the last song you posted. It sounds to me just like the usual drivel that teenagers listen to constantly...
Johnny Hollow - Nova Heart (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zPsQF9Clv8#)
I guess this could be classified as "Ambient Gothic", or something like that. This is a particularly lovely song.
Really? You liked the first one over the second one? I must prefer Adema to Spineshank, but I seriously hate Spineshank. (Hate)
Anyways, I was just offering music that I found to be in a similar theme in case some one else likes it, this is a thread for people to expand their musical taste and I won't rail on someone just because they like a different kind of music than me.
Korpiklaani-Journey Man (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejyoYRxjdnc#)
Folk metal.
I still can't believe that more people aren't posting in this thread. o.O
Dr. Online by ZeroMancer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixskugIPSSQ#)
poprock

Anime Munters
It was unusual, but I was cracking up. If you like anime, this is perfect for ya. Then again.. it's gay stuff... but still if you have an open mind you'll crack up. Many many MANY anime males in the vid!
yet another one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLnWf1sQkjY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLnWf1sQkjY) Jizz in my pants
Only cause I was watching some Hetalia... and this was on the side bar. >.> My first time hearing it... Kinda funny, but very unusual music (to me.) Good beat though <.<
Three songs, one webpage.
http://radio3.cbc.ca/#/bands/AMY-ROSE (http://radio3.cbc.ca/#/bands/AMY-ROSE)
This is my cousin so I doubt anyone knows her. Last of the True Believers is the best song in my opinion.
One word, Buckethead.
Also, for some really trippy sounding stuff, check out the late Sparkle Horse. It's mixed to sound like your stuck between two radio stations. It's actually truly amazing.
As unusual as Buckethead is...he really isn't *that* good, he just put a bucket on his head and became famous that way. When I said Cruel and Unusual I really mean stuff that isn't already famous. XD
Driz; Jizz in my Pants is one of the more famous internet songs. It is cruel, but not unusual. ;D
Dru; nice music but, personally, I'm not a fan of country. ^^ Hopefully someone else stumbles across her.
They only have one song but Tirehtöörit (http://www.myspace.com/tirehtoorit) is Finnish ska.

Nickleback is cruel and unsual
Well, while I do think Buckethead is a, more interesting, composer than say, Malmsteen, his stuff with Praxis is much better I think than his solo work.
(Also, Sparklehorse is one word, not two. My bad.)
Anyway, if your looking for something really trippy and fairly unknown, you could check out Aa. I love the song "Mossy." Really interesting stuff.
Also, "Sabali" by Amadou And Mariam is pretty odd too, but I do enjoy it.
Nickelback is just plain shitty. Only cruel is forced to listen to it for extended periods of time...it could be considered torture.
HouseMasta - Tetris Dirty Remix.
Newgrounds portal submission. Don't ask how I got it. x3
Hopefully it will upload on this.
That was pretty sweet. <3
Wrong file. x.x Odd music still.
And this is the right song. Had to link it. http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/42476
Been a while but I'll add some music here for some folks. :D
Meshuggah - obZen (http://dc235.4shared.com/img/441204450/13e09e97/dlink__2Fdownload_2F5X944EPN_3Ftsid_3D20110519-34750-682da840/preview.mp3)
I know Meshuggah. XD They're pretty awesome.
Leaether Strip - Kill a Raver (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZU5NV9SX8s)
I love Shonen Knife. That's the only band I recognize out of all posted, except for Tom Waits~
Anyways. Enjoy Jimmy Urine:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKJu6VXVb6o
I love the Left Rights. XD
Skinny Puppy - Pro-Test (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aS-gGYaA8F0)
Video's kind of cheesy, but this band is awesome, can't believe that I forgot about them.
Skinny Puppy <3
Every sunday night from 20:00 to 22:00 eastern time on wzbc (wzbc.org) is the industrial show. I think that's where I heard Skinny Puppy~
I hit on a chick with a skinny puppy shirt who was mad that I was hitting on her x3
And now, my favorite band and song, some Electric Six~
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gflbl1lLfGQ
I got one for ya folks. :3
From the killing floor soundtrack Containment breach! by zYnthetic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4HUohgGdGk)
Electric Six's Gay Bar is way better. XD
Fen, I'm liking these guys. ^^
(By the way this thread is basically so I can find new music that other people like so pick bands that are really obscure that no one has heard of that are still good.)
ohGr - Cracker (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQu8A_Wjbbc)
I found these guys a week or two ago, fucking awesome.
hopefully you havn't heard JUSTICE then <3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqJu_3CPhC4&feature=related
Dayum, that is a fat-assed beat. Thanks for bringing them forward. ^^
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7v9F8ffaBAQ&feature=related <-- This is awesome in a kind of "wtf?" way.
I think everyone's heard suicide by now.
if not...

Cruel and Unusual...?
...Did you steal the title of one of Jay Naylor's comics? xDD
Not that I know of. ^^'

Aphex Twin - come to daddy
Cherry popping daddies - bleeding ceremony
Just to restate what the thread's for: any music you can link us to that you would never hear on a radio or has a major record label. Something you're willing to bet that no one has ever heard of before.
Song: Beats Antique - "Crush" (feat. Brazz Menazeri) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=NZa0GxC-Xas&NR=1)

The greatest band that almost never was.
Okay, here is one artist: Bobby Yarsulik
Actually he is my favourite artist at the time. My personal favourite albums are Save Me and Little Ones and favourite song is Perfect Life, which I'll link here. Hope you like it.
