Jacob Marshall: a rat, 26. Sexual orientation: straight. Occupation: bouncer. City of origin: Las Vegas, NV. Preferred weapon: katana. The main protagonist, he loses his fiancée, Hannah, early in the onset of the story. When he first gains his powers, he plans on getting revenge for her. But, as he encounters those who would willfully harm the innocent and those he would want to protect from such forces, he begins to take it much more seriously. He also has somewhat of a very cynical outlook on life in general. His signature move is the Shadow Arm which is basically either of his arms under complete shadow—he can make them do ANYTHING he wants. Superpower: Umbrakinesis.
Jill Prescott: a ferret, 25. Sexual orientation: bi. Occupation: n/a. City of origin: Corpus Christi, TX. Preferred weapon: claymore. A spoiled rich girl seeking adventure, though, she may seem to have been primped and pampered her whole life, she is actually a very free-spirited soul. To top it all off, she also happens to be a very talented swordfighter, having been trained by her grandfather who was formerly of Her Majesty's Secret Service. Her grandfather's secret armory contains many other weapons from different eras. Superpower: Super Strength.
Bill Foster: an opossum, 26. Sexual orientation: straight. Occupation: mechanic. City of origin: Montgomery, AL. Preferred weapon: scimitar. An old friend of Jacob's from high school, he now lives in a relatively good apartment in Flour Bluff with Jonathan. He soon learns about Jacob's new powers after he sees him save Jill from the car. Instead of being afraid, Bill is actually intrigued; until he gets his own power. Then, he realizes just how hard it can truly be defending himself and others. Superpower: Duplication.
Hidaya Sinclair: a meerkat, 26. Sexual orientation: straight. Occupation: assassin. City of origin: Cape Town, South Africa. Preferred weapon: Beretta. A very beautiful girl with a mysterious past, she was betrayed by her ex-lover, Skip Mantel. All she wants is to live a normal life away from all the turmoil, but with both the Powersuits and the Marksmen on the loose she has no choice but to fight. Superpower: Photokinesis.
Jonathan Garcia: a squirrel, 24. Sexual orientation: gay. Occupation: actor. City of origin: Tucson, AZ. Preferred weapon: bo staff. The "resident gay" of the story, he has great aspirations to become a famous actor. From the start, he has a not-so-secret crush on Bill. But, he then finds himself infatuated with Jill's brother, Junior. Now if he could only do something about his shyness. Superpower: Terrakinesis.
Desiree Braun: a beaver, 25. Sexual orientation: bi. Occupation: department store clerk. City of origin: Toronto, Canada. Preferred weapon: meteor hammer. The tomboyish tart from Toronto, her hobby is nailing anything with a heartbeat. Don't let this fool you though; she's really a true, loyal friend when she is needed. She is Jill's best friend and sometimes friend with benefits. Superpower: Chlorokinesis.
James Prescott Jr.: a ferret, 22. Sexual orientation: gay. Occupation: male stripper. City of origin: Corpus Christi, TX. The younger brother of Jill Prescott whom everyone just refers to as Junior, because he prefers it; He is at first a little overprotective against Jacob, and even after knowing him better, he still has trouble getting along. He is the first serious boyfriend Jonathan has ever had. Superpower: Invisibility.
Isabella Rodriguez-Prescott: an iguana, 24. Sexual orientation: virgin. Occupation: n/a. City of origin: Corpus Christi, TX. The adopted sister of Jill Prescott, her mother was a maid working for Mr. and Mrs. Prescott who became gravely ill after Isa's first birthday. She is incredibly shy and reserved even amongst family though, she clearly cares about her sister. Anywhere she went would always be with big sister, Jill. Superpower: gravity control.
Dante Price: a crow, 27. Sexual orientation: straight. Occupation: BMX rider. City of origin: Kingston, Jamaica. Preferred weapon: whichever he gets with whatever vehicle he merges. A death-defying thrill-seeker from Kingston, Jamaica, and as most birds are, he is always looking for that extra dose of adrenaline. His arms, chest, legs and back are adorned with tribal tattoos so one would most likely be seeing him without a shirt in public. They adorn him as signs of his homeland pride. He comes to Corpus to tryout for BMX. Unfortunately, it is at this very event that his life is changed forever. Superpower: Changing Armor.
Yuan Zhao: a panda, 28. Sexual orientation: lesbian. Occupation: magician. City of origin: Buffalo, NY. Preferred weapon: cane sword. A Chinese-American native of Buffalo, NY, she dreams of becoming a great magician like her father before her. Superpower: Illusions.
Supporting characters
James Prescott: a ferret, 58. Sexual orientation: straight. City of origin: Liverpool, England. The widower of Julianne, father of Jill and James Jr., and adoptive father of Isabella; he is one of the richest bachelors on Ocean Drive, he is away from home a lot on trips to make partnerships across seas. He does, however, try his absolute best to be a part of his offsprings' lives whenever he can.
Michelle: a rabbit, 26. Sexual orientation: bi. City of origin: somewhere in Michigan. She is the very antithesis of the other girls of the fiction. While most of the girls are selfless and strong spirited, she is very weak and quite self absorbed.
Cherry: a cheetah, 29. Sexual orientation: bi. She hangs out at a bar where Jacob and his friends go to drink sometimes. Jake saved her life once during one of these visits, though he still has yet to accept her offer to "thank" him.
Gan Yi: a magpie, 27. Sexual orientation: lesbian. Occupation: magician's assistant. City of origin: Beijing, China. She is Yuan's lovely assistant who helps her perform her "tricks". They are also lovers offstage. She doesn't speak much among the others since all she knows is Mandarin Chinese.
Villains
Jerome Marks III: a Doberman, 38. Sexual orientation: straight. Occupation: supreme commander of the Marksmen. City of origin: Dallas, TX. Preferred weapon: nodachi. The main villain, he was an ambitious gangbanger from Dallas who graduated to becoming one of the most feared names in the Coastal Bend. His plans are to attain full control of the entire Southern Texan underworld so he could hold the monopoly over all crime. Superpower: Elasticity.
Matt Brody: a badger, 31. Sexual orientation: straight. Occupation: captain of the Blue Division. City of origin: Dublin, Ireland. Preferred weapon: brute strength. An Irish ex-gangster, he had a reasonably good life until the morning he first attained his powers. He came home afterward to find his wife in bed with a stranger. What happened next was too gruesome for even this writer to reveal. Shortly after, he joined Jerome's Marksmen and became one of the three captains. He is the largest and strongest member of the Marksmen. He is often the target of ridicule by his rival/friend, Jimmy. Superpower: Gravity control.
Jimmy Lee Darrell: a bat, 27. Sexual orientation: bi "and proud of it, bitches!" Occupation: captain of the Purple Division. City of origin: Austin, TX. Preferred weapon: clawed gloves. The resident bisexual playboy of the Marksmen, this born Austinite is the self-proclaimed greatest fighter, joker, and lover in Texas. He has a mean streak that drives him to play terrible jokes on everybody. His most constant target is Matt. He also gets jealous easily when it seems someone is stealing his spotlight. Superpower: Wind control.
Carrie Leacher: a kangaroo, 30. Sexual orientation: bi. Occupation: captain of the Green Division. City of origin: Perth, Australia. Preferred weapon: snake sword. The current on-off girlfriend of Jimmy, she is quite manipulative, and despises ever feeling small to any male. Superpower: Electricity control.
Drago: a velociraptor, N/A. Sexual orientation: straight. Occupation: the boss's pet. City of origin: there was no civilization yet. Preferred weapon: his claws and his teeth. Frozen for millennia, he was found by Jerome's grandfather during an expedition. He speaks no modern language. He only knows of two things: food and females. He now serves as a sort of pet for Jerome. He is fiercely loyal to his master. He could also very well have been the first shardbeast. Superpower: Teleportation.
Skip Mantel: an otter, 28. Sexual orientation: straight. Occupation: captain of the Powersuits. City of origin: Chicago, IL. Preferred weapon: laser sword. The former lover of Hidaya, his order from his father was to simply kill her; instead he just knocked her out and threw her off a yacht. He had not counted on how resourceful she could be. Now thoroughly embarrassed, he wants nothing more than her painful death at his hands. Superpower: Power Absorption.
Miguel Herrera: a roadrunner, 37. Sexual orientation: gay. City of origin: Santa Fe, NM. Occupation: serial murderer. Preferred weapon: Dragunov rifle for long range, 357 revolver for short range and poison-tipped claws for close combat. He is an old lover of Jimmy's, who carries with him a revolver and an electric guitar. He also has a tendency of taking boyfriends with him on hunts. His current lover is a mute coyote named Robert. Superpower: Precognition.
Robert Mendez: a coyote, 21. Sexual orientation: gay. City of origin: Matamoros, Mexico. Preferred weapon: knife disguised as a small cross. The current lover of Miguel, he was traumatized at a very young age when he witnessed his whole family murdered by an unseen killer. Since then, he has not spoken a word. He communicates through sign language, mouthing and his notepad. He loves Miguel and couldn't possibly imagine being without him, though he also develops an attraction for Jimmy. He wields a stiletto blade under the guise of a holy crucifix worn around his neck. Superpower: none yet.
Deceased characters
Hannah: a rat, 23. City of origin: Laredo, TX. She was Jacob's fiancée. He had known her since grade school. She died an innocent bystander of a car bomb.
Julianne Prescott: a ferret, 29. City of origin: London, England. She was Jill's and Junior's mother and James Sr.'s wife. She had died due to complications during Junior's birth.
Martin Dax: a ferret, 83. City of origin: London, England. He was Jill's beloved grandfather. In his youth, he was an explorer, served in Her Majesty's Secret Service and collected many ancient weapons. He is thus far the only character to have actually died from old age.
Lucas Sharp: a stoat, 40. City of origin: Baltimore, MD. Along with Jerome, he was one of the founders of the Marksmen. It was the bomb rigged to his sedan that consequently set forth the events which would transpire four months later.
