So, now that we've managed to get things sorted on the performance side, the chat is running smoothly. Earlier today, we had ~30 people in there and not an issue was to be found.
With the capability to have more people, I thought I might open up a discussion to see if people would like to have some input on chat channels. Right now, it's pretty barren since people normally hang out in just one or another.
And if people are wondering, yes, there is a description for the End of Time Club, it's just on my desktop which is in pieces in a box right now while I move around.
So, does anyone have any suggestions for what we should do regarding chat channels?
What are have currently at the following:
End of Time Club/Lobby
End of Time Forest (Discussion)
Room 1447 (Public Adult RP)
Quiet Room (Non-RP Chat)
I don't think it's necessary to have more rooms, although I don't even use them. But you pretty much have everything that's "necessary" no need for gender or orientation related ones.
Too many genders exist nowadays to keep up.
I have to respectfully disagree with Oxo about the sexuality based rooms. Some people don't want to see two guys fucking. Some don't want to see two girls fucking. If the userbase is there for a lesbian group or a gay group, there's no reason not to make rooms for them. Even just a homosexual and a heterosexual room could work.
Another thing to consider, though, are different setting type rooms. A bar, a coffee shop or diner type setting, and maybe even a fighting room.
The truth is that I don't know if these things are necessary right now, but they might be something to consider to encourage more RPing in the chat.

Speaking as someone who is rarely here and speaks only occasionally, I'm guessing that interests vary based on who is around, time of day, general mood, and the price of tea in China.
That being said, the only real constants seem to be that people want a place to see who's on and blow off steam (the main chat), a place to go so they can get nekid and sticky (adult chat), and private chat areas so they can talk bad about other people, bitch and moan, and get nekid and sticky (private/personal chat).
It might be nifty if you (admins/ops) were able to create ad hoc rooms for special occasions like an RP room for a DnD session or a room to represent a scene or area described by a forum thread for freeflow story telling that could be copy-pasta'd into the forum thread afterward or just used to enjoy a sidebar story related to such a thread. Something that could be created and left up for a few hours, then removed. It might also give you an ongoing idea as to what topics or ideas people want to have permanent rooms available for.
We have "Private" Channels/Rooms. Why make more rooms people aren't going to use?
