Title: Getting the word out.
Post by: Fen on September 12, 2010, 12:33:08 PM

Word of mouth is possibly the best. In my experience, advertising only brings in a minute amount of quality people, the rest are just people who were browsing a site and had a curious click.

If you hear it from someone you trust, or at least know, then you're more likely to check it out.

Well, we all have YIM, MSN, AIM, FA, blah blah blah, why not start talking about it on those?

Just as important as getting the word out is keeping the forums active!  If the place looks dead when people get here, they might still join, but they won't be active on the site.  Let's pick it up on the forum posting~!  :3

Since a whole bunch of people migrated to the Furry Sanctuary forum after FW was taken down, I left a message there letting them know that FW is back.

Ehhh, I'd be careful of who you tell on TK.  Letting everyone know might bring in some unsavory pieces of work.

As was the case in the past. Just try to pick up one or two literate people who are looking for a change of scene. Word will spread like jam or legs once the reputation gets going again.

I haven't yet. But I am on a site called www.houseeros.com (http://www.houseeros.com) and there is furries on there. If I can get a banner or something I will post something on there about the site.

Also i have posted the site's link on my other site.

Hmm, a good point was made...we DO need a banner, don't we?

Banners make it easier to tell about the site.  I have told two sites and a chat i go to for their audio portal, that has a furries in it. As well as all the furries on my msn and yim, I hope that helps out alot. I have noticed alot of the people I told has came.

Or like a very aggressive STD...either way we're in business!

I could make a banner... But I'd really like something better than the current logo to work with.

You should make your own logo, Leithri, and submit it to Azh for approval.  I'm sure that if he's anything like me as far as the site goes, he'd be open to new ideas and input.  ^-^  You know what they say, quit yer bitchin' or get out of the kitchen!  ....At least, I think they say that. v.v.;

Really don't like the logo, do you, Lei? I just threw a shitty reflect effect on it in Photoshop so it wasn't an acorn and the text "Bright Forest". If you want to have a crack at it, though, any .png will do, so long as it's 618x132. At least for this theme, those are the preferred measurements.

What about a slot on a late night television show? I'm sure Conan would do it.

Seriously though, a great logo on a few high traffic sites like f-list should bring people in.

Are we going with an abstract theme, or more like FA and TK's logo? I remember expressing interest in doing a furry themed logo last time the site was open :3 Is it alright if I submit some ideas too? :)

Why not host a story board or something? Something to get other furs interested in checking the place out more than just flipping through the posts?

And yes, a fresh banner couldn't hurt.

When need to keep the chat active as well as get some forum rps going. The only active thing on here is really the forum games.

Well you can always try to put up an Ad for the site on Pounced.org, but that might bring a few trolls in

Banners seem to be the most popular of idea so far! I have another idea, I do. Convention advertisement. I'm sure there's at least two individuals on this site who go to conventions. Maybe that individual could wear a Furry-Within shirt or something to the con. I know I'd be willing to (Hell, I'd probably wear said shirt around town!) I have a couple design ideas floating around the ole noggin, too.

I'd possibly be willing to wear my outfit to a convention to advertise, you'll have to wait til I get back to the states next summer first sadly. I wouldn't need a shirt necessarily, but I'd be willing to work a booth for a day.

We first need to get more activity on the forums other than the games. More rps and content. Make the forums look active.
