Well this is a simple one, tell us the last movie you saw, be it in the theater or on your couch, and what you thought of it.
I will start off by saying the most recent movie I have seen was Red..and I must say that it was amazingly well done, another classic about the old farts coming back to action.
Last movies I saw recently were.... *thinks* Alpha and Omega... and Jackass 3D... wooooww... Both really good. Alpha and Omega on the furry level was simply adorable... <3.<3 Eep! Jackass 3D... kept you laughing... well kept the whole movie theater laughing... until it got to an ewwww part... >.> Flying poop... be warned
Hmm. I think the last movie I saw was.. well.. we watched the entirety of the Saw movies, excluding the 3D one thats coming out. (Going to see that on Sunday)
I like them. They're confusing.. But I like them. :3 I like gorey movies.
Last movie I went to a theater for was Kick-Ass...Which I loved. I feel that Nicholas Cage brilliantly filled the part of Big Daddy. That and Chloƫ Grace Moretz scared the living hell out of me as Hit-Girl.
As for most recently watched, I watched The Breakfast Club again this morning. I can't help but to laugh at John Bender, as Judd Nelson filled the role surprisingly well despite not being anywhere near the age of the character.
I saw the new Potter film the other night. It was pretty good.
I don't hear about many new releases here and the theater shows about 4 or 5 different American films a month, the rest are all fairly bad Chinese action movies.
Red sounds like it might be good. I'll have to look for that at the DVD shop.
How to Train a Dragon
Drumline (Only like the end)
Hairspray
Last newist one I saw...The Expendables
goood good good movie
I found The Expendables to be a seeping heap of drivel with no credible content whatsoever. It just managed to sell because it had some big names in it.
Last one I watched was some good old fashioned monster vs movie, Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus. One I'm watching at time of typing is Predators.
Seen Harry Potter part 1... WOW That was some amazing movie! :D Can't wait to see 2nd part... but such a HORRIBLE place to pause the film! D:<
Predators was actually pretty good. I went into it expecting very little and in fact I was pleasantly surprised. The story really unfolded well and made for an interesting scenario and the tributes to the original were done rather well.
I was a bit surprised that while they referenced the governor of California's hunting trip in which he encountered the predator originally, they made no mention of Danny Glover hanging out with the thing. I was like, "What the fuck? He was on the damn ship! Can't he get some kind of honorable mention for pissing himself inside their trophy room?"
Also I just watched "The Town" last night. Again, went into it expecting little, but I actually liked it. Good action and story mix. The romance was a bit weird and Ben Afleck's acting was a bit stale and hard to chew, but otherwise a pretty good film.
The "I am here! Kill me!" bit was hilarious! (In Predators, not Ben Alfeck)
Most recent movie I went to see with Sasha was "Season of the witch."
Nicolas Cage *Drool.* As always gave such a lovely performance during the movie as well as his co-star Ron Perlman. The movie's actions scene's were very nice but all in all it was a big dissapointment for me. It could have been much better in my thoughts, but fortunately for it, it wasn't the worst movie I've seen in the past few months.
The latest X-Men. I hated the first three quite a bit but this one was actually decent. A lot of plot hitches that kind of confused us...
SPOILERS:
Like how Xavier was standing at the end of Origins but they show us how he lost the use of his legs in this one. In the first movie Xavier tells the X-Men that Cerebro was made by him and Magneto but in this one Beast does it. So...in the end...it was good if you forget that the other three ever existed.
The last movie I saw was the new X-Men Movie :
Now I didn't mind the first few movies, they weren't that bad honestly. But this one I would have to say answered quite a few of the questions that I had about the few. Now I'm not going to give away key points of it but it was still a quite decent movie. I would totally say go see it to anyone that asks about it.
Paul.
It thought it was pretty good. I really enjoyed the story, the writing was excellent. I've seen it twice already and loved it both times. It's the latest by the Shawn of the Dead team. Though not as good, it's certainly a very enjoyable addition to their already hilarious series of films.
I think it was called The Roommate but I could be wrong on the title. Girl stops taking her meds and goes completely fucking psycho about her roommate in college wanting her all to herself 24 hours a day. It rocked. lol.
Cowboys vs. Aliens
So the last movie I saw was last night as I was slowly passing out on a reclining chair was " Cowboys vs. Aliens with Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. There were a few other lead and support lead actors but none that I really care to bring up. Now then, You start the movie with - Craig waking up in the desert only to be surrounded by a group of men that he then proceeds to kill for no exact reason. Sounds about normal for his movies.. But I'm not going to give away everything.
as we process through the movie you start to get what's going on and are soon introduced to the " Terror" of the movie, The aliens. Now to me.. these creature's weren't at all scary, although the did have some interesting body parts like a second set of arms in their stomach area that just pops out, and blood that is green. But other then that not much to see after watching a lot of alien movies when I was a kid.
Honestly if I had to rate this movie from what I did keep up with, I'd give it about a 6/10. I didn't really get a lot of what was going on, they mixed far to much action in with what they were trying to make scary so it didn't mix. I spent most of the time, laughing then screaming. But if you're into that type of sci-fi Thriller, then may I suggest that you see it. It wasn't a bad movie, I just really didn't enjoy it.
Conan The Barbarian
Sasha and I went to go see this movie in 3D on Sunday and honestly it wasn't as bad as I thought having already seen the three movie set that Arnold had done when he first started coming into movies. The movie starts off with the birth of Jason Momoa's Character Conan during what looks to be a raid on his home village. Interesting concept and a good beginning. Won't give anything else away but still it is a very worthy opening.
Continuing through the movie you see quite a few new enemies and meet new characters, but honestly if you don't keep watching you loose track of who is talking and what they are talking about. It's a good movie with some very interesting characters.
Now, with the honest heart I would give this movie a 6 1/2 out of 10 stars. Definitely a good movie and one that I would pass on to those who are into a developing character type story line.
Really, Yoko? I saw that movie and laughed so hard. XD (Hint: I wasn't laughing with the movie.)
I saw Fright Night last and it was *awesome*(ly hilariously bad). I do recommend it though, it was one of those movies that was done so badly that, like Conan, is great to laugh at and David Tennant's character *swoons* was soooooooo hot (and actually funny). <3
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
It was good. I don't say that a lot about modern film, especially action films, but it was genuinely good. The plot and story took some time to get rolling though. Until then your going, "When the fuck are these two going to meet?" After it takes off though, the movie's pace seems to get the viewer excited and perhaps a little jittery with uncertainty, which I like. I love not being able to see the end of the movie coming a mile away and this movie definitely had me guessing until the end.
Note: No, I never read the books or saw the original Swedish versions of the films. This was my first experience with the franchise other than people telling me exaggerated ideas about the characters which apparently weren't entirely true.
Speaking of action films;
Salt
Sucked. Bad. Awful film. I turned it off and left the room towards the end only to have someone else tell me to turn it back on and watch to completion. The plot was beyond far fetched. I mean, they raised a young girl to be a sleeper agent and once they had a dead American girl in Russia, they swapped the two, but the girl was 7! This was 30 years later with no contact! One thing I couldn't stand was how stupid everyone else was and not only did everyone in the film have worse accuracy than a storm trooper, but every time she kills a dozen people in a row, the police (the CIA, the Secret Service or the FBI ever handled her until the very end) practically slapped her wrist and told her to line up nice and rarely did anyone EVER shoot at her. Very very dumb. I hate action movies more as a whole for having seen that piece of garbage.
Darkest Hour
This is a movie I was expecting to go into it and find out once the movie started that it was horrible, and POSSIBLY was going to be what I call "Terri-great" meaning it's so bad that it's good again. Now I was wrong about that by a long shot. I don't care what anyone says this movie is awesome.
It starts out confusing enough with a pair of 20 something guys talking about some unholy child between Facebook, Twitter and Google Maps. Then it says they're in Moscow, and are heading to some meeting where a Swedish business partner of theirs (in Russia o.o) stole their idea before they could get to the meeting and has therefore essentially taken their job and their future from them both in one swing. They head to a bar and to drink their problems away and hopefully get laid and actually get cock blocked by the same guy saying "hey man that's life, welcome to Russia."
At this point I was curious if I was going to be willing to see this movie to the end but that's when it started to finally become an alien invasion movie. The lights start going out and everyone goes outside to see tons of what looks like stars floating down out of the sky like bits of a dandilion floating down to the earth. They disappear as soon as they touch the ground, and one comes down near them all, everyone staring and not wanting to speak or move. Finally a cop moves toward it . . . slowly . . . his partner whispering some warning about not touching it, he takes out his gun as it vanishes on the ground and blinks a few times and the cop fires at it, it starts blinking again, vanishes and the cop disintegrates.
What followed from that point was fairly standard alien invasion stuff with the steady lowering of cast members, but with the gaining of them as well at certain points. Now, by the ending I had predicted most of the points, like the reason they are invisible and why the lights went out but what I hadn't expected was how well done it was. Especially the Russian John Conner group that found a way to kill them first.
I'd recommend this movie for fucking certain. Go see it, I demand it.
Teen Titans trouble in Tokyo
yeah yeah, screw you I like Teen Titans.
This movie is fairly enjoyable with only a few points at which it really kind of bothers me such as them trying to make the movie "timeless" meaning it could fit into any point during any season of the show. This is a problem for me because of the char that bothers me the most. Beast Boy. He has something akin to a girlfriend in the show, granted not as much as Robin and Starfire, but it's something. This girlfriend is Terra, the blond who controls stones that is shown in the show earlier. This movie didn't come out until after the end of the fifth season which means it takes place while Terra is around technically and that means the man that almost DAILY goes to see Terra (spoiler alert)
turned into a statue due to things involving the main villain of Slade that would take too long to explain.
suddenly not caring or even admitting she exists and instead chasing after a group of Japanese girls for better apparent reason than "why not?"
However, the movie as a whole is excellent, the animation is as solid as the show, the length is just long enough to make sense without feeling dragged out, or so short it feels like a normal episode. And I loved especially the LACK of traditional logic. The Titans go to Japan, and start fighting local crime on their way to try and find the mysterious "Brushogun" (I know that kinda bugs me too) and are stopped by a special defense force of police in Tokyo. Who tells them it's great they're crime fighters in America but they're all kids, leave it to the defense force, who are . . . notably all adults. This moment made me very happy. Since normally anything akin to anime would say "oh no something is threatening the lives of the entire city!" "don't worry I can handle it!" "OK little boy, let me know when we're safe!"
Now, when the villain is revealed it also had the wonderful aspect of a twist you cannot predict without having seen the movie before. Again I would recommend it, I'd also recommend the show, so go watch it all.
Scott Pilgrim Vs The World
So I just finished finally watching this, after it being out for almost 2 years, and all I have to say about is.. What the freak? Honestly, It's a good movie. A bit confusing with all the video game references but still enjoyable if you're just watching a movie to kill the boredom.
Anyways, The movie is based off Michael Cera's character, Scott pilgrim and his life before and after meeting Mary Elizabeth Winstead's character Ramona Flowers. Basically the movie is a video game based off his decision to fight 7 evil ex's to date this girl. And so on and so forth. Although it does get boring at times, there is some good spots to the movie.
All in All, I would say. A pretty normal teenage video. I enjoyed it, but it could have done without jumping around on everything. I'd recommend it if you were bored or just looking for something to waste your time on.
Naked Lunch
So a film-monger like myself suggested I give this film a watch and even let me borrow his copy. What he didn't recommend, is watching the things at 3 in the morning, which is what I did.
In short, very fucked up drug induced trip through the mind of a novelist.
If you're one of those people that are constantly asking, "Wait, what's going on again?" then this really isn't a film for you. The main character is constantly jumping back and forth between plots and at some points it's tough to keep up with where it's headed. You really just have to sit back and listen closely to the dialogue to know what's happening.
If you love films like Brazil, then you'd probably really enjoy this messed up film noire. I can't say much about it without revealing too much about it, but it's an interesting adventure.
I hope it's okay that I post in this topic, so I don't have to make a new one. If not I apologize.
Last movie I watched was Insidious Chapter 3.
