Title: A Falling Out. Kor/Pi
Post by: Pi on July 16, 2016, 07:38:12 AM
Well that definitely hadn't gone as planned; But when do they in this time and age. Dammit. If only she had made it past those last set of eyes, she would have been home free and long gone by now. Instead, now she was running a maze through the rubble and decrepit buildings trying to throw off the knuckle headed canine who dare think he could keep up with her. Light on her feet, the Sea Mink tore down the abandoned stretch of.. what used to be a side street; vaulting over fallen debris and taking a hard right into an alley, the dimming light only helping her escape as night approached. One paw moved to adjust the lump that was in her shirt, tucking the package back and out of her way as she kept her pace to the end of the alley where she paused. Mismatched eyes scanned the way she came for a moment before she briskly strode into the street ahead of her, using her small size to move in and out of the homeward bound crowds in the street. She had made if back to the traders district, though quite a few blocks further south than where she had started.
Wandering ears had picked up the whispers of something she needed. A pricey medication that would surely bring a pretty penny from one of the few traders she knew. Hopefully to buy back the dagger her brother had traded years before. She had followed the furred beast, finally catching a glimpse of the vile with the medication as he slipped it into a small parcel. His failure was putting that down. His other failure was turning his attention to the commotion down the street. She was probably half a block away before he noticed it was gone.
Her failure was taking the whole parcel.
She stuck with the crowd for a block or two, working her way further from that starting point, before side stepping down another alley and taking a breather. With her ears alert, she gave a small smirk; She had slipped away from much more difficult situations than that in her previous excursions. Though the shouts that followed her at first had such an underlying blanket of fear, it sent shivers down her spine. Giving her an almost uneasy feeling in her gut. Sharpened claws made quick work of the bindings keeping the parcel closed, the medication finding a new home in one of her many pockets as she eyed up what else she had unintentionally lifted. A few coins of some currency she did not recognize, some ammo.. useless. Well. She had claimed what she came for. Turning to check behind her one last time, she moved on, placing the ammo and coins on a flat hunk of rubble as she moved past. As she opened her paw to drop the remnants of the parcel wrapping, a ripped piece of paper flipped and fluttered from it, the same paw darting to grab it before it landed on the ground. As her form moved out from the alley once more, those eyes took in what was written on the strip of paper, something seemingly useless. Directions. Simple and easy to follow yet vague .
"Hah, probably so that mangy canine could understand them."
Looking up, she headed towards the south, out of the public, and away from anyone who may still be looking for the parcel she no longer had. Crumpling the paper up she held on to it for a moment, keeping her usual brisk walk as she passed a burn barrel and tossed it in.
Adjusting herself while walking, the writing on the paper scrap stuck around in her mind, the curiosity working her brain, though her common sense telling her to never mind. Reaching the edge of the once breathtaking metropolis, she glanced back the way she came. Taking in the fallen decay, garbage, and the attempts of so many to make a new life here. Boarded up buildings, lean-to shelters and market esk stalls to sell wears. No signs of anyone looking for anything..
"Well.. I guess whatever it was, It wasnt too important."
The sound of a gunshot a few blocks away caused her to flinch, a deep sigh escaping her lips as she turned away from it and walked on, not knowing that was the reason the brute was no longer after her.
