Title: Free to play Shooter, anyone?
Post by: Lattenmon on January 17, 2017, 08:55:38 AM
https://renegade-x.com/

This is Renegade-x, a complete reworking of Command & Conquer: Renegade, which was the FPS offering from Westwood studios in the Command & Conquer universe, circa the first game, Tiberium Dawn/95. I enjoyed the multiplayer to the original from back in the day, so I have high hopes that this'll be a fun game to play.

Anyone wanna join in? I'll be downloading it tonight and over the next couple days to give it a try, and I'll let you know what it's like.

If you're wanting to play the original C&C Game, I beliiiieeeeve it is now freeware with how old it is.

http://www.bestoldgames.net/eng/old-games/command-and-conquer-gold.php Free download for the original game. You will need DosBOX if you do not have Windows XP or lower system to play it on. Or, alternatively, EA Origin has the entire C&C series for, I think about $7 currently? Not a bad price for hours of gameplay.

I have had original CD copies of the first games from the 'theater of war' pack that was released at least a decade and a half ago. I have purchased at least three copies of 'First Decade' but can only ever find the bad DVD copy. I have finally just purchased the Ultimate edition on EA Origin so that I shouldn't have to keep searching for the fucking games!

Also, finally popped into the game, and it looks gorgeous!

Only issue I have, which will be the same issue every custom game will have, is that the only populated server I could find was hosted in France with a couple people. The other servers seemed empty, tragically.

The little bit of skirmish I did play was really pretty, haven't looked at any vehicles or anything, will have to look into it again this morning when I'm off work.

It might be better during the weekends.
