Title: The battle of Rouen
Post by: Jen on May 28, 2011, 07:39:40 AM
OOC: This is a warning to all that join, The Ministry is a first world military force that is to be reckoned and feared, and is feared by all in this setting. Any that take up armed rebellion or even demonstrate against this force are asking to be killed, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
-----

2050, European western coast... 15 years since the end of the Unitarian War.

"All units, prepare to deploy to the LZ, we are going in hot" said the monotonic voice of the sargent as the squad checked their gear and weapons, the white gear a classic sign of Unity soldiers preparing for war in the wastes again. The red eyes could be seen all about the pelican as it cruised along, heading for the former coast of Normandy. "Move out as soon as we are on the ground" added the sargent as the pelican now came up on land, turning a full 180 degrees before slowly landing in a field, the team of 30 piling out from the pelican as they spread out and unloaded their equipment, a warthog transport being dropped from the pelican as they all piled into it, the engine roaring to life as they got on their way... their mission: explore the wastes of Rouen for any rebel activity and destroy it before it becomes a problem for the Unity.

Jennifer clutched her anti tank rifle and hopped into the transport, taking a seat near the cab as she felt it begin to move, the hydrogen-diesel engine roaring as they made their way over to an old road and began to head toward the town. "So where are we going to check first?" she asked over the secure channel, looking over the cab as they hit a bump.

"We're going to check the cathedral first, then spread out from there!" said the sargent as he looked about the group, giving a nod to a few of them as they prepared for all out war.

Mikkado was holding his own rifle with a tight grip. This was the part he always hated, waiting. He knew once he got into it he'd be fine, looking out at the world around them, the data on the areas they were passing appearing. Dead bodies on the ground, broken buildings, so many places already destroyed and burnt. "No offense sir, but look at this place it's been blown up, destroyed, and purged with fire and salt . . . what the hell could possibly be left for us to find?" He knew he had to be right. Unless, like always they weren't being totally honest with the people under their command. Thankfully they weren't as strict about weapon customizations. Otherwise he'd be out of luck.

As he kept looking around he had to wonder why it had happened at all . . . the war, the rebellion . . . wasn't the last war before this about unifying the world to keep this kind of thing from happening in the first place? what the hell went so wrong that that would change on a whim . . .? or was it not that simple? No, it wasn't. He was answering his own questions again. It was never that simple. He knew that the moment he'd joined up. But when the fighting started he wouldn't care anymore. They called him Berzerker in his squad for a reason. When the dying starts, his eyes go blank, his head fills with buzzing burning white and he feels like he's on a pure morphine drip. He doesn't care anymore after that, ammo or not . . . he'd beat people to death with his rifle until it breaks and then take out his standard issue sword until that breaks too.

"Weapons, rebels, terrorists and so on" said Jennifer as she looked at the sat map of the area, seeing their vehicle moving through the street from above before looking over the cab of the transport truck, smiling as she seen people in the street. "Looks like we walk from here on out..."

The town itself was populated still, albeit sparcely. It had been the scene of a major battle in the unification wars, thus making it a perfect staging ground for something to creep up on Unity itself.

Mikkaddo nodded when being told what they were after. Vague . . . always vague . . . there was something wrong. He could feel it in his blood. He looked ahead, they were coming up on some kind checkpoint and that's when he heard Jennifer say they would walk from there on out. Understood sir. I'm ready to go . . . locked and loaded. The air was so thin though, even through his suit he could feel it . . . and that's when the itch happened. It was coming . . . a storm, a huge fucking storm that would blind his eyes and bring him to that happy place. He moved toward Jennifer before they even got out of the truck and put a hand on her shoulder.

Careful . . . I can feel something coming our way . . . it's gonna be big and it's gonna be bloody. I'd recommend we warn the troops ahead and any civilians. He knew it wasn't likely that they would, Unity was most often more concerned with protecting their own people rather than civilians, "protect your own let the gods sort out the rest" was what he'd heard an officer say once.
