Question:
Do you like the Tinyportal layout?
Option 1: Yes.
Option 2: No.
Option 3: I don't care, I just come here for the chat.
This is pretty straight-forward and will help me gauge what it is people do and don't like about the site's new layout.
Comments will be appreciated.
good to see you caught the shout I left to remove the shoutbox. Why have a shoutbox that can be abused when there is a chat.
It was thrown up there by default. A lot of forums don't have a chat, and, other than topics, the TP Shoutbox is the only dynamic way for people to communicate. Not needed for this site though, I agree.
I admit that it's probably not very useful to me, but I love stats and neat things like that.
Know what I'd really like, though? A way to disable the huge, boring logo at the top of the page, so I can browse in public without fear. I know I could install Adblock and block it, but I don't want to install yet another Firefox addon, especially since nearly every ad is already blocked by the combination of StopScript and RequestPolicy, anyway.
There are things I like and dislike about the Tinyportal layout, but things I dislike definitely outweigh the things I like. Like Leithri said, the stats and little nonsense what-nots on the columns are useful in some ways, as is having the most recently active topics on the front page, but when a forum becomes inactive or is slow for any length of time, the front page becomes useless and rather irritating to have to come through.
Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer the regular forum layout. v.v
It's nice. Very smooth, clear and aesthetically-pleasing. I'm not jizz-in-my-pants excited... but it definitely looks good.
I liked it because you could easily see who had replied to your posts and what new ones had been made without having to do as much searching. I only liked it for convenience sake and it will likely only be useful in those ways as long as this place stays small so in the end I don't care too much, but I thought I'd give my preference.
This is essentially the old layout, isn't it? Anyway, I think it's fine.
