Aegis: Discussion Thread

The world, the universe as we know it has changed drastically over the past 200 years. Most of this was due largely to a discovery, perhaps humanity's greatest breakthrough. In 2148, a mining team investigating the "Bermuda Triangle-like" reputation of the southern pole of Mars unearthed the subterranean ruins of an ancient alien research station, revealing irrefutable proof of the existence of alien life. Humanity was no longer alone in the universe.

Within a year of the discovery, Earth's eighteen largest nations had drafted and ratified the Systems Alliance charter, establishing a representative political body to expand and defend human territory. Shortly thereafter, the various nations of Earth pooled their military resources to create the Systems Alliance Military.

The same year, 2149, the Alliance discovered the Sol system's mass relay orbiting Pluto, previously thought to be a moon, Charon. The Charon Relay propelled them into space and the reach of humanity grew quickly.

The Alliance began a rapid campaign of expansion, establishing numerous colonies and constructing a large fleet, even though it had yet to encounter another species. Maintaining this expansion policy, the Alliance activated all the mass relays it could find to seek out new resources and possible colonies.

After much growth and some bloodshed humanity leaped onto the galactic stage. The Alliance received a surge of popularity, which gave it the necessary political credibility to speak for humanity as a whole.

The current year: 2318

On space station Slova, orbiting Earth the UGA Aegis is docked. This turian vessel is a prototype starship created as a joint human and turian venture. A cruiser optimized for reconnaissance missions, the vessel uses state-of-the-art stealth technology.

Crew mission: The exploration of this Galaxy and neighboring ones to seek out Planets and make contact with new species, acquire new technologies, and on occasion recon around possible hostiles.

If you have read thus far I applaud your interest. So basically what this discussion thread is trying to find out is, who wants to go explore outer space?

ok well Aegis is the wrong name for the ship. For those that think I just walked in to argue I'm sorry but Aegis has always meant a strong protection. Specifically in ancient Greece when men would wear cloaks with the symbol of religious authority. This can be transposed of course in the since that with t he Alliance symbol on it Alliance forces would protect but the ship is a recon ship which doesn't have the proper authority or capability to do so.

So anyway, yay mass effect... now first things first the post didn't mention anything about contacted races other then the fact that there have been none as of 2149. Does that mean there has been NO contact of alien species and if so what about furries? cause dats important. I mean I'm in for sure love space and all but gotta work out some details first and do we need to post a Character sheet or something?

While I won't debate the name of the ship *winks* you have posed some rather good questions. Yes everyone including myself will be posting a character sheet with relevant information for the field you have chosen as well as a brief history.

Everyone will be expected to wear the Alliance issued PMD on their wrist as well as uniform.

Yes there has been contact with alien races. As a matter of fact the initial first contact with the turian race resulted in a war. But yeah I delete or better yet left out a lot for the reader.
As far as contact with Anthros or were they came from. I'm not really sure what you are getting at are you thinking a furry planet as an alien species, or maybe that somehow over the past 300 years humans evolved into furries that are now exploring space?

   I'll probably end up either playing Tactical/ Weapons, Or security.  I'm assuming Tactical/ weapons is ground related work. And that security is ship work??
Oh and what is our current tech for weapons look like? Do we use energy projectile? Or is it a mix of tech?

Ok..tactical/weapons is basically the person responsible for pointing the ships guns and pushing the button. Not that hard.
Security would be responsible for ships security, and the security of the other members of the crew. One person can run Security Chief and use NPC's as roving marine patrols or whatever.
As far as technology, what weapons we have on board.. Dual Disruptor Torpedoes and Javelins. Will also be equipped with GARDIAN point defense lasers, kinetic barriers and a mass accelerator cannon. Just a little FYI... I expect posting to be consistent, I DO NOT expect it to be daily. I have 2 full times jobs so.. yeah I have a life outside of RP world just like everyone else. If for some reason you decide to leave.. for fucks sake post an exit or I will find some horrible alien to eat your character and replace you at the next planet we stop off at.

YAY! so ok I'm the science officer.
Name: Alexia Drakkon,
Occupation: Astrometrics/Theoretical Quantum engineering.
Graduated academy at the age of 16 top of the world. Worked on implants helping design and alleviate pain in the subjects creating the third generation. Specifically requested to join the crew of the Aegis as part of a science team. Alexia is Young and still very human like though occasionally she disappears and wears parts of the uniform that aren't regulation.
Quirks
Alexia is quick to jump to conclusions, quick to anger if she feels threatened and holds a grudge for a long time unless the words 'I'm sorry' pass the lips. She's curious by nature and has to solve any puzzle placed before her. (what she does with the answers isn't important only that she found the answer)

You can be creative in your weapons, they just need to be believable if you know what I mean, as for the crew members on ship there are supposed to be at least 150 overall.
Units under your control?  Ummm... lets see, 6 levels on the ship, one unit per level.. 6 units. And they are a hodge podge of soldiers.. some new recruits, green as grass, other seasoned.

He knew that the only way she would ever get promoted was if she went into the field. Easily he convinced Alina that it was in her best interest to seek out appointment on the Aegis. Alina filed the appropriate forms and received an immediate transfer with promotion to Lt. Commander and Chief Science Officer based on her supervisor's recommendation.
