Slice of Life with a side of Character Development

As some, or even most, of you may know, I graduated college with an English degree recently. My minor was in creative writing, and a second in psychology. As such, those things come out in my RP, as I use RP to stretch my writing muscles quiet a bit. Because of this, I place a heavy focus on my character's development, and love to play with long term RPs that take a character from one place to another, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually. When college was wrapping up, I didn't have a lot of time for this. And post graduation, I haven't had much time or motivation for it. But I'm craving it now, so I've come up with something I've wanted to really work with for a while.

My idea is pretty simple: my character is damaged. Your character won't know how, and to keep it authentic, you won't either. But suffice to say that she's got some serious issues and skeletons in her past. She's adjusted enough, gets by easily, and even has friends. But there's a distance about her, and a lot of things lurking just under the surface.

Here's where your character comes in. This will be a slice of life style roleplay, as adding things like magic and combat and war all sort of detract from my point of character development. My first thought is that, because my character keeps her distance, your character is a friend of a friend, and that friend has tried to set us up on a blind date. The idea is a little more complicated than that, but that's the long and short of it. If you are interested, I'll explain in more detail, and we can bounce ideas off of one another. In the end, I want this to be full of romance, and character struggles. Your character should struggle with dealing with my character's shortcomings, as well as have some sort comings of his own. Your character should have a full, fleshed out personality and life. You don't need an elaborate backstory, but his personality should not waiver from post to post.

I am looking for male characters only, as my character is straight. Species is pretty open, although there are a few things I prefer not to play against, and I have very definite preferences. You should be able to make at least consistent paragraph posts. You can look at my post history to see the kinds of posts I tend toward. As mentioned, I enjoy fleshing out a character. There's a lot of inner emotion and dialogue in the explication of my posts. The point is to work through real human emotions and struggles for me.

Of course, there will be some fun along the way too. There were will hardships in getting to that fun, but that's part of the fun as well, right? If you, as an author, just want an RP to bang it out with a hot girl, this is not the RP for you. This'll be the long game. But, I'm placing this RP in the adult section because I do intend that, eventually, this pairing will venture into a sexual relationship. And, in addition to that, I intend for there to be some adult themes otherwise. The dark past I am planning for my character may well be things that trigger others, so my intention is to keep it regulated to the right place, so that those who don't want to stumble onto things of that nature can stir clear.

At the end of the day, tl'dr, this RP is meant to be slice of life, heavily romantic, and heavily dependent on character interaction and development. If that's something that interests you, we should talk!

Okay, what's your character like?

Well! I'm glad you asked!

First of all, he has some pretty bad depression. No suicidal thoughts or anything, but he is rather sad most of the time. He has a hard time making new friends, mostly because of his past experiences with fake friends, but once he makes a friend, he is extremely loyal, doing most anything to secure the friendship. This is one of his fatal flaws, but it is also one of his best aspects.
He likes videogames a lot. They are his escape from the world, where he gets to be someone else for a change; someone without his problems. He likes to read, as well.
He also has ADHD, so his impulse control is very weak. He often gets stronger emotional responses than what most would deem "normal," and that is most evident in his feelings of loneliness from his depression.

That's a pretty broad overview, but does it answer your question for the most part?

Hmm. It sounds like our characters would clash a little. Not opposed to RPing with you, of course. But maybe not for this character.

Alright. How about Azon?
He's one of my newer 'sonas, so I don't have too much character development, but I do know the basics.

He is a cat as well. He is very self-respecting, but not super stuck-up. He is an extremely smooth talker, and sometimes gets himself into situations just to see how he will get himself out of them. He sticks up for the little man, and doesn't really show when things get to him, this being one of the things holding him back in life.

How does he sound?
