A Drink at Selena's

Thrown out by my own niece. Unbelievable, the fox thought to himself. The girl had only been living with him a few short months and already she was taking control of the house. What does she need me leave for anyway? It was something he wasn't sure if he wanted to think about. Besides, this was giving him the chance to spend some time to himself and perhaps meet new people. He committed himself to enjoy the evening and would find some way to do so. Or at least he hoped.

He didn't like the idea of being in his clothes from work though. Deni hadn't even let him in a door to change. At least he was dressed sharp enough. A navy blue pinstripe vest and slacks. A white cotton shirt underneath. Sleeves rolled up and top two buttons open. It was good that he'd left his coat at the office or he'd be hard pressed to carry it around in the warm surroundings of the bar, "Selena's."

Selena's wasn't always his first pic, but he liked the staff and the company. It was your typical bar, at first glance at least. A little dark in the corners, but otherwise nice and clean. A central bar counter on one side and a series of tables and chairs throughout. The look was a bit retro with a loft type finish to it. Exposed ceilings and vents hung from above while the bar itself had an unfinished sheet metal look to with colored lights along the sides. The music was mostly older songs, but the popular playlists often led to rows of drunken sing alongs. Or at least that was the case on some nights.

It was busy tonight it seemed. Mostly men, both gay and straight. There weren't any bar games like pool or darts at Selena's, mostly just cocktails and conversation. It was often the starting point or meeting place for furs that wanted to make a night of things with friends or lovers. All through the evening one could hear the cheer of old acquaintances meeting up, but never see a drunkard being thrown out or witness a fight. That's was part of the bar's allure really. A nice warm place with friendly people. Well lit, good music and no pressure to dance, drink heavily or otherwise.

Still, it wouldn't be all bad to meet someone new. His soft blue eyes would dance across the other faces around him. Taking in people's look and mannerisms into account almost as if trying to get to know them without any two way interaction. There at the bar on a stool, he'd turn back to face the wall ahead to take another drink of the red concoction in his hand while his soft orange tail swished idly behind.
