Interesting means of categorizing them, Cyn.  So...in your opinion...would the demons only be able to change through returning to their realm, or would their interactions and the level of their influence gained in the mortal realm also allow them to change/grow in power?

Also would you recommend that each person that might take place in this threat choose and play/create their own 'familiar/demon' or have one person play as the spell caster and the other as the demon?

The Demon/Familiar would probably be able to change on it's own with enough energy and experience. They would also be able to grow/mature over time though the level at which they would grow should be kept to a minimum. I mean....who would a demon that could easily grow too strong to quick  and become difficult or impossible to control/train?

so...in your opinion would it be better for those taking part in the threat to play as both the spell caster and their familiar's?  or have one person as the spell caster and someone else as their familiar?

I would play as one or the other mnyself, but it ia really up to the people who play

Hadn't noticed it before, but when reading through I thought in my head; "Yes, summon forth the black tentacle monster of the alternate planes, Ieo!  It will feed upon your bodily fluids to satisfy its hunger, and as it vanishes... only leaves you wanting more..."

Then I saw it was a more traditional demonic setup in the discussion.  Is that what you're going for, then?

Not dead.  Just...been a stressful week.

More or less, VirZixl.  I'll start a thread in the RP section, though I think I'll take the role of an occult shop keeper and someone else can play as the adept about to undertake the summoning of their first familiar.  That's if there are no objections.
