I'll cut to it, Kor wants to make a cannon RP for the site, with that follows close to real life (so no gods, angles, Demons, Magic or anything else like that)

So that being said we need a setting for the cannon story.

I gave a few ideas like Cavemen and or a setting like forhonor (knights v barbarians v Soguns [ my spelling... ish bad ] )

But seeing how this is cannon for the site, and Kor wants our input, lets get some ideas, make  pole and see what happens.

For anyone who is still aware that the forums exist, a persisting RP world is being planned in an effort to try and get people interested in being active on more areas of the site, and to give new users something to jump into without much prep.

So far, the idea is a post-modern world, with the year being in the area of 2050. Cultural ideals have shifted, political powers are unbalanced, conflicts are erupting across the globe, and new land, as yet unclaimed, is being fought over.

That's one of the ideas, at least.

Others, which I haven't yet put any thought into, are fantasy medieval, sci-fi future (spacefaring etc), cyberpunk (Blade Runner, to give you a vague idea) and reluctantly steampunk. I can build a world around any of these things with relative ease.

Any input would be appreciated.

Personally I would love to take part in any RP ideas you guys come up with. It's been far too long since I last had a decent forum style RP.

If I remember correctly the last one I was part of was here back in 2011. Started off strong enough but sorta lost steam and just stopped. Tried to start some of my own but they never went anywhere.

I wish you the best of luck with this project. I would suggest something but I seem to have a Reverse-Midas touch when it comes to starting things.

I think that a cannon RP for the site would be a fantastic idea, and while I haven't really participated in a lot of larger scale RPs, I have noticed that (like Eratoscofcyrene has mentioned) it can be difficult to continue a narrative without finding ways to generate interest.

Another huge problem with these sort of larger stories is that it can lack direction, which can really kill it for a lot of people. I'm not really sure how to approach this sort of thing because I'm not sure how structured you want the RP to be, what sort of rules you guys will be having, etc.

I'd suggest having a main thread for the main story, and maybe branching threads for side stories that other people can do for side-stories or if they want to RP with closer friends. It might be really cool to have certain events that go along with the story, sort of a way to keep people invested by giving them a theme to go off of (like there's an earthquake, how is your character reacting to the situation/what are they doing to help/take advantage of it?)

Really I don't know! I don't know the format so again, my input isn't really all that useful. But I would highly recommend having a couple of people in charge of a main narrative, and that way it's not so chaotic and crazy.

When I get a chance to get to a pc in the next day or so, I might just make a few worlds and people can vote for them.
