So, when we did D&D last time, we had a couple of problems. The biggest one was the skill disparity between the players. The newer players somewhat struggled so the more experienced players sort of played the game for them.

This time, I'm looking to put together a four player game with myself as the DM, and four other players who are new to the game, or have very little experience.

I've never DM'd before, so I'd like to use it as an opportunity to try, but also assist some players into becoming more confident to immerse themselves in the game.

Players will be starting with a fresh, 1st level character. If you're so new that you don't know how to make a character, I'm willing to help you. It's far easier than it looks. I can help you weigh up pros and cons of classes, suggest things, or just assist with building the fundamentals.

Gaming will take place on Roll20.net, which you just access through your browser.

What you need to participate:
  • A microphone/headset. Something that won't pick up a lot of ambient sound.
  • A quiet place you can settle in for a few hours while we play.
  • Skype for communication. This is something rather important as typing out responses can take a long time, and people can become bored.
I'd also ask that people are attentive. If you agree to sign up, please pay attention to the game, even when it's not your turn. If we have to spend two minutes each turn trying to get your attention, it wears on us all.

If you're interested, please reply to this thread with what times you're available. I'll be starting the games next week if all goes well.

Dungeon Master: Kor
Player 1: Luc - Drow Warlock
Player 2: Zurr - Dragonborn Paladin
Player 3: Tabby - Halfling Rogue
Player 4: Latten - ????? Druid
Player 5:

I'll give it a shot. Only played a few times before and died several times from other people's decisions that I didn't have a chance to respond to.

Times I'm free... that would be any time from noon to midnight. I will end up passing out asleep beyond midnight and from there I'd be asleep until about 10 or 11 in the morning and would be taking the hour or two to wake up and eat.

Tabbymouse

I haven't played 5E, but I'm game.  My schedule is a little tricky though.  Jan 1-8th I'll be out of town, then from jan 11th on I have class 6pm-9pm est m-th.  So far I know I;m good any time fri-sun.

Zurr

I'm interested if we can accommodate my schedule. I do have a bit of experience with other systems, but no 5E.

Update: So, Tabby will be unable to make the first session, maybe the second as well. As a result, I've added a fifth player slot. What will happen is four players will begin on Friday, and when Tabby is able to join, she'll be folded into the game at level 1. The additional player will not be excluded once she joins.
If you want to join the game, read the initial post and reply with the requested information.

So far, I've worked out the following schedule that should work. Bear with me on this.

Gaming will happen once per week on alternating days of Thursday and Friday, and all times are in Central. So adjust times accordingly to suit your region.
The Thursday game will run from 9:30 PM to as late as 12:30 AM. Games are not necessarily going to take three hours, but in some heated cases, they may. Be prepared for that.
The Friday sessions will run from 7:30 PM to as late as 10:30 PM. Same as above, not necessarily expected to run that long.

The first game is scheduled to start Friday 1st at 7:30 PM.
If you need help establishing your character, please see me at least 24 hours before the start time. Post your character sheets here and I can upload them into the Roll20 system for easy access.

If the time slots above does not work for you, please let me know. I'll try to find a medium between peoples' weird schedules. I'd appreciate it if people could get back to me on this ASAP.

Finally, there are just a few small resources you'll need to grab. The first is the 5th Edition Player Handbook. This contains all of the information a player needs for the game, including character creation, spells, and so on. You can get it here.
The second resource is your character sheet. You can download them here. In that ZIP will be a sheet called Character Sheet - Form Fillable.pdf. That's the one you want to use.

I must say, there is not nearly enough nudity in life.

Update: I've had to amend the times for the Friday games. Please review these changes in my previous post and let me know if they still work for you.
