Furry-Within

Been thinking on this for a while. This is something that I've done before, and I know a few others here participated in it as well. Was brainstorming off of Latten's blind date RP idea, and remembered this.

This would be a chat RP that people could freely come and go from; sort of like a party night in the club. Maybe we could set it up to happen one night a month, or once a week, if people want it to happen again. Either way, depends on how much response and how much participation we get.

Essentially, we'd be playing truth or dare or spin the bottle with an amass of characters/players. Truth or Dare is much easier, because we can simply ask one another. As such, though, we'll need to keep things rotating so that everyone can be involved. This should be a group RP that's lax on the rules. Everyone is involved, but no strict post order. Keeping in mind, though, that if two people are interacting, you should not interject before they can post. We all post at different speeds. If we were going to do something with spin the bottle, we'd have to set numbers to people as they entered the game, so make sure we could keep the bottle spins completely random.

Ideally, I'd like to set this up to be something casual: light and fun. So 4-7 sentences per post. Nothing too crazy, but you should also be putting forth effort. And, because it's casual, if there are four people playing, and two characters find they have chemistry, they're free to split off and go do their own thing. People can come and go as they like; hopefully, though, a steady stream of characters throughout the game. In case there are too many participating players, splitting for two separate games can happen. Though, I'm sure this is unlikely.

I've attached a poll to this thread. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or just want to show your support of the idea, please feel free to respond! Otherwise, weigh in on it you like the idea and would participate, or if it isn't your thing!

I think it's a good idea, set up a date, have it running over a period of time, and like you said, people can drop in/drop out at will, make it informal.
I'd definitely say we should give it a try, and look at doing it regularly if it ends up being a popular event.

Absolutely. The idea was to judge reaction, find a date/time that works best for those interested, and just keep it rolling all night, until people have fizzled out or paired off.

I'd like to see both, I think this site should have more events going, keep people interested and wanting more. Lately there hasn't been much events, and even when there was no one seemed to put the effort in to show up to them.

How did the last one you hosted go?

I like the idea! I just started a new job so my hours are a little funky but if it's something that happens all day, that would be great!

I haven't hosted an event. If you mean the last one the site hosted; to my knowledge, that was the Bathhouse event, and I believe it was a pretty nice success. Here's hoping this can have a similar effect. And maybe people will find new partners to RP with as well!

I think that an all day thing might be hard to swing. Personally, if it started around 8PM EST, then I could attend for the entire duration. It could start earlier, or be an all day thing, if the majority would like it to be, then I'm sure we could set that up. Would rather it not be something that fizzles out early in the day, though, because I definitely want to be able to be around for it! Thoughts on this are welcome, as well!

That being said, the best days for me to be able to join in are probably Sunday and Monday. I could also swing Friday and Saturday, and I suspect these days will be when most can make it. Feedback on days that work best are also welcome.

Right now, it looks like the majority of votes are for both. We could do both in one day, having two games going or by integrating the both, or separate the two events. One way we could do both would be to simply use the 'spin the bottle' technique to pick who we ask 'truth or dare' to. Which would be my simplest suggestion for this first iteration of the event. Suggestions on this, as usual, are very welcome.

If it starts at 8pm central, then I doubt I will be able to make it. On work nights I go to bed at 6pm EST, and the nights I have off, Sunday and Monday are normally booked up. The xbox event Sunday and date night with Libby on Mondays. I would love to make if it starts earlier, but like you said only if the majority only wants it to be.

I wouldn't mind it starting earlier at all. And I can possibly make an exception and be around earlier, if we want to have it be able to start earlier. My only worry with having it be an all day thing is that if we don't have enough traffic, it could die out completely.

I agree, this should not be an all day thing. Let's keep an eye on this thread, pass it around. Having the event being hosted for a couple hours one a selected time and date is probably the best given option to do.

What about blocks of time throughout the day for the event to be held at, so it isn't held constantly without end, but at the same time has access to different timeslots of people interested in participating? This would also give people a breather between the blocks, to do their own things (IRL or OOC), and be refreshed when the next block comes around. That way it's both "throughout the day" and not constantly so, so people don't wear out on it and stop participating, causing it to fizzle out, as you worry.

We've already decided how we'll handle the time thing, and we're just trying to decide on day, as seen here. If the initial event is a success, then we'll look into hosting it on different days and different times so that users who missed out can find a time/day that works for them.

As it stands, we'll probably host one, and then another the next day. Either at the same time, or a slightly different time.

So, definitely think that this one was a success. How much longer did you guys all go for, anyways? It was already going for two hours by the time I managed to get in, and we went for another six before I ended up having to bow out, having stayed up far too late.

The event lasted eight and a half hours in total, it seems.
