Looking for some furry insight.

Lately I've been thinking about my fursona, a lot.

Since I'm really a guy irl, though I have been known to cross dress (and do an amazing job at it mind you) I'm not sure I want to continue on with a transvestite fursona.

The thing is, I have a different personality to the way I type depending on the character I'm playing at the time. It's an odd talent, but makes for good writing skills.

Anyway, I've already started to establish myself with this one, but I don't think it's too late to switch to another (Riley) fursona. I've known everyone on here (this website anyway) to be pretty good at playing fursonas matching their own gender and out of respect I think I should do the same. Opinions?

People play fursonas of different genders. I don't know if it is a vast majority, but there are a few. I don't because I'm too lazy to make different characters, let alone try to make ones of different genders. Whatever floats your boat, go sailing. You want to play guy, girl, or some herm mixture, that's your prerogative. Don't restrict your characters if they aren't breaking any rules. This may be a boring answer, but it's my answer.

Ja, that's a personal decision.  This character was initially a chick and a lot of people from this site met me as a female.  But then I realized that the more I played her the more that the species fit me as my personal fursona so I announced a gender switch, changed her name and now just have me as a furry.  So it honestly depends on you and what you want.

Out of respect, you shouldn't just play a character that is your gender to respect us. We play what we want, because it makes us feel comfortable, and represents what we want to represent at that time.

Thus, out of respect, you should play a character that you are comfortable with, and have it represent what you want.

Ditto to the above. It's not against the rules, nor is it taboo by any stretch of the imagination on this particular corner of the web. If you wanna play a chick, play a chick!

Primrose

Well, I'm not exactly playing as a chic, but I do appreciate the insight from everyone. I've thought about it a bit and I think I'll continue to be what I want to be ^_^.

Now if I could just figure out a way to be on more often ;)
