Lycanthropy comes from the Greek lykos meaning wolf and anthropos meaning of human. That is to say a human possessing wolf-like characteristics not to be confused with shape shifting in tribal lore and shamanism. Lycanthrophy is not the curse or power to take animal form this ability is known as zoanthropy. Nor is it transmigration of the soul or some form of reincarnation. The term "werewolf" and its many translations appear throughout history and across religions. Be it a curse from the gods, the aftermath of occult delving, paranormal occurrences, magical origins, or mystic traditions we do not know. We are not immortal though very strong in body and spirit. We are unaffected by the moon, religious artifacts, silver, mistletoe, and running water. An attack, claw, bite, or otherwise will not infect another the passing is genetic. It can skip generations and this unfortunately has led to some of the rumors in various folklore. The act of changing is both physical and mental, going completely feral can cause the lost of sanity which has led to other rumors. My name is Aylissus Narmoon we are neither man nor beast and we live among you.
